National Library Week 2010


CELEBRATE -National Library Week begins Sunday April 11th. The Smyna Library will be holding special programs all week long. A word to the wise - You won't want to miss Lee Bryan (that puppet guy) performing his Planet Earth, Inc. puppet show. This show is appropriate for all ages. You'll have fun and learn something too.

Family Story Time


You won't want to miss next Thursday's Family Story Program. It's Tod Key's Flying Debris Show.


Tod Key balances on a small thin board, performing rope tricks and juggling, while maintaining a patter that keeps everyone laughing. Reservations are reqired, so be sure to call the Library and reserve your space.

Mosaics by Herschel Kranitz


Herschel Kranitz is exhibiting his Mosaics in the Library display. His work has been displayed and sold in galleries in New England, Georgia, Arizona and Alabama. He has formal training in Roman classical mosaic, but enjoys working in the folk art area most. You won't want to miss this exhibit.

Cobb County District 2 Commissioner, Bob Ott, will be meeting with the public in the Smyrna Library meeting room from 9 a.m. to noon tomorrow. Come by and meet with Commissioner Ott to discuss your concerns and find out how the County can help you.

To Dance With the White Dog


The Friends of the Library will be showing the movie "To Dance with the White Dog" tonight and Friday night at 7:00 p.m. This award winning film is a heart warming story that is appropriate for all ages.
Join the Friends for a great movie and popcorn.

Pastels by Sandy Jane Tabor


You really should see the Library's art exhibit. Sandy Jane Tabor is exhibiting her pastels in the gallery. These range from abstract to realistic and reflect European art she began viewing as a child.

Murder Goes South


Just a reminder - The Eigth Annual Murder Goes South Mystery Festival will be held January 29th and 30th. Murder Goes South is a festival for readers and writers of the southern mystery.
Friday night January 29, 2010 at 7:00pm there will be a dinner with writer Erica Spindler as the featured speaker. Ms Spindler is New York Times best selling author of "Breakneck" and "Last Known Victim" and lives in Louisana.
Saturday January 30, 2010, 9:30am-4:30pm will feature workshops, panel discussions, and book signings. Some of the writers are Fran Stewart, David Hunter, Carla Dameon and Debby Guisti.
